Collavate 5.5.0 Release Notes

This update makes the approval line easier to edit and the Google Workspace add-on more consistent, hardens approval processing, API responses and document numbering, and further strengthens permission checks and privacy. It also introduces the Collavate MCP server in beta, so AI assistants can connect to Collavate.

New Features & Enhancements #

Collavate MCP Server (Beta) #

  • The Collavate MCP server is now available. Connect Gemini Enterprise or Claude to Collavate to look up and review approval documents from your AI assistant. During the beta, access is enabled per Google Workspace domain for organizations that apply. To join, contact support@collavate.com with your company domain. An API for external-system integrations has also been added.

Drag-and-Drop Approval Line #

  • Reorder approvers by dragging them in the approval-line editor.

Universal Collavate Add-on #

  • One add-on that behaves the same in Google Docs, Sheets and Slides. Token deduction results are reported clearly when submitting from the add-on.

Notification Mail Language and Dates #

  • Notification mails are sent once per recipient in that recipient’s language, with dates formatted for that language.
  • Approval document links returned by the API always open the right document.

Offline Page #

  • When the network is down, the app shows the real cause instead of a generic page.

Reliability #

Bulk Approval #

  • If another user has already processed a document included in a bulk approval, that document is skipped and the rest are processed normally.

Document Numbering #

  • An existing number block is recognised on either side of the file extension, so no duplicate number is added.

Official-Document Flag #

  • Submitting an approval no longer changes the official-document setting based on request data.

CrossScan Sorting #

  • The validation report’s title-descending sort now works.

Bounded Inline Previews #

  • Inline previews in process lists are capped to prevent slow or failing responses.

Other Fixes #

  • Errors from invalid template IDs during info updates, and add-on token deduction failures that were silently ignored, were fixed.

Security & Performance #

Permission Checks #

  • Authorization across administrative features (billing and subscriptions, templates, team licences, app icons, email templates) and server-side validation of approval submission were tightened.

Faster Submission #

  • Per-approver permission grants and notifications on submission now run in parallel, shortening the submission response time.
